Caring for Community Service Track

Caring for Community

Put Your “Hands-On” Israel

Volunteer inside exemplary organizations to experience first-hand how our Jewish ethos of care and support cares for Israel’s vulnerable citizens with dignity, respect, and love.

There’s nothing more satisfying than knowing that you have come to Israel to give.   You do so with your presence, your life experience and wisdom, and your heart.

Our Caring for Community track puts you inside high-quality settings working with the elderly and with people with disabilities. Based on our past participants, we predict you will receive much more than you give.

Examples of Caring for Community Placement Settings:

Seniors in Jerusalem: Meet Israel’s Founders and Immigrants. Volunteer in a unique cutting-edge Memory Club serving seniors with varying degrees of memory challenges, supporting staff, and interacting with club “members” engaged in lively stimulating activities including lectures, movement, games, and art. You can choose to serve in the English speakers Memory Club or work at the Hebrew speaking Club.

No experience is necessary. The professionals at this center know how to integrate you into their caring staff and their established Israeli volunteers the moment you walk in the door. Join the attorneys, business executives, teachers, rabbis, and others who have found this experience to uplift and inspire.

“All of the children and the staff have given me such a warm welcome and I have never felt like a stranger in their midst. I can sincerely say that I have felt part of the volunteer team throughout the short time I have been here. I am very grateful to all of its members and am keenly aware that in other volunteer situations it can often take a much longer time to feel at home.”
